Incentives and Rebates for going Solar:

• California Solar Initiative: 

The California Solar Initiative, will rebate you money on grid-tied solar energy systems, offered through local power Utilities.  This is a direct cash rebate for system costs and installation. Typically covers 20 – 40%, of Total system and Installation costs.

• Federal Tax Credits: 

 Established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, and renewed in current years, the Federal Tax Credit provides a 30% rebate of all system and installation costs in the form of a Tax Credit, to the homeowner or business.  Applies to solar-electric systems, solar water heating systems and fuel cells.  The tax credit has been extended to cover small wind-energy systems and geothermal heat pumps, effective January 1, 2008; Other key revisions included an eight-year extension of the credit to December 31, 2016.
